Biography

Dr Yin is currently a GP and Wellcome Trust Doctoral Fellow in Cambridge.

Yin graduated from the Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2009 and hold an MSc in Health, Population and Society from the London School of Economics, where she developed an interest in health services and population health research.

During Yin's appointment as an Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in General Practice in Cambridge, she worked under the supervision of Professor Martin Roland, gaining experience in quantitative research throughout working with large national datasets.

In 2016, Yin was awarded the NIHR School for Primary Care Research GP Career Progression Fellowship to continue her academic work in combination with clinical practice.

In 2017, Yin was awarded the Wellcome Trust Primary Care Doctoral Fellowship to pursue a part-time PhD under the supervision of Dr Fiona Walter and Professor Yoryos Lyratzopoulos at the University of Cambridge. Her mixed-methods PhD focuses on patient safety, in particular diagnostic safety and quality, in cancer diagnosis. Yin hopes to be able to identify missed diagnostic opportunities relating to the use of tests in patients with kidney and bladder cancer. Her work will involved secondary data analysis from national datasets, as well as primary data collection from GP practices.

Clinically, Yin works in a city-centre practice in Cambridge. She is a GP out-of-hours trainer, and also teaches medical students from the University of Cambridge - holding a PgCert in Medical Education from the University of Cambrdige.
