Hear from our students and staff about what it's like to study Neuroscience at Keele.

I chose neuroscience at Keele because of their teaching. The lecturers ensure that you're supported really, really well here and that you're never left alone. So if you have any questions or if you have any doubts, they're more than happy to come and help you and I think that support’s really important, especially within university settings.

The neuroscience course at Keele is actually ran by world-leading scientists, who then extend the opportunity for students to go into the lab and shadow them for sessions.

We have active researchers who are going to teach you neuroscience. We have researchers studying stem cells that grow into the brain. We have researchers studying how we can fix the brain after a disease or an injury and these issues will be brought into our lectures and teaching material.

We have different types of labs to support different types of learning, whether that's wet labs, dry labs. Us being in these lab settings and doing this lab work helps us transfer those skills into real life situations.

The facilities within the school extend from the library, they've got a whole range of texts and literature to support your research. It extends to labs where there's absolutely fantastic equipment, and there's also the online learning platform for extra resources.

We have state of the art teaching labs. These have been recently updated and we've got lots of new equipment like microscopes, fluorescent plates, which you'll learn during your study. You'll be taught by active researchers and have the opportunity to go into their labs and work with things like confocal microscopes, electron microscopes, so these are really high-end bits of equipment.

I've gained presenting skills moving through Keele doing neuroscience. This was something that was really not confident doing before I started the course, however, since starting that confidence has grown and I'm sure this will help me moving through my career in the future.
