Hi there, my name is Byron and I'm a Business Management student at Keele.
I'm currently undertaking a work placement at Bosch, and I'm part of the business development team for the UK and Ireland. I'm a business development intern at Bosch, where I've been exposed to many different areas of business. For example, I've designed digital branding for promotional external use, and I've also done market research, data evaluation and procurement.
When I was a second-year student, I was quite indecisive and unsure about my career prospects. However, having this experience in the real world has allowed me to narrow down my future prospects. I want to look into going into product management, developing that product using research, but also promoting it. I really want to have a strong relationship with what I'll be selling.
My favourite part of my placement has certainly got to be the hydrogen conference in Glasgow last year. From there, I was quite fascinated to be involved in a high-profile event, but also learn from people, whether they were specialist engineers or project managers from clean energy firms. On placement, at the start of the year, I was given a very high level of responsibility, and I feel like this has given me the true feel and essence of what it is like in the workplace.
I really enjoyed my time here at Bosch. I feel the benefits here that you gain through the experience, it's opened the doors for me in the future. The networking opportunities as well, it's massive, and it's clarified what I want to do. So, it's been a great experience and something different from uni work.
