Discover the key concepts around climate change, sustainability, and the net zero agenda on Keele University’s Sustainable Development: Achieving Net Zero modules. You will develop sector specific skills to assist you in preparing for a net zero future, in a professional or personal capacity. There are two courses available - with and without a 'Sustainability in Action' 10 credit top-up, which takes the form of 5 days on the Keele campus.

  • Duration: 12 weeks plus 5 days on the Keele campus. 
  • Credits: 40

Both of these Sustainable Development modules have been designed with stakeholder input. Their aim is to enhance your understanding of net zero policy, practice, and actions.

You will explore the environmental and social sustainability responsibilities of organisations and investigate the environmental and social impact of different sectors, their policies, actions, and activities. You will look at how organisations can develop policies for a more sustainable future and examine the different mechanisms for reaching Net Zero.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ACHIEVING NET ZERO

Indicative content studied of the 12 weeks of online study may include:

  • Climate Change
  • Introducing Sustainability
  • Understanding net zero
  • Carbon footprinting and Life Cycle Analysis
  • Paths to net zero
  • Setting goals and developing plans

ASSESSMENT

Various methods of assessment will be used including written assignments and presentations.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ACHIEVING NET ZERO WITH SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION TOP UP

Indicative content studied of the 12 weeks of online study may include:

  • Climate Change
  • Introducing Sustainability
  • Understanding net zero
  • Carbon footprinting and Life Cycle Analysis
  • Paths to net zero
  • Setting goals and developing plans

In addition to the above online content for this specific module there will be a five days on Keele University campus.

ASSESSMENT

Various methods of assessment will be used including written assignments and presentations (group and individual).

You will require a good standard of maths and English which may be evidenced by qualifications at level 2 or above.

There is a short application form and you will need to provide a short personal statement as a method of assessing your reasons for applying for this module and any relevant experience.
