University funds provision of extra bus services to campus
Students told us that getting to campus by bus in a morning was difficult, with not enough services and standing room only.
As a result, the University has provided additional funding – and in collaboration with the Students’ Union - two extra buses will now run to Keele every morning from Monday 21st September to help commuter students get to campus before 9am more easily.
Leaving Newcastle-under-Lyme bus station at 7.41am and 8.19am Monday-Friday, both buses will follow the usual 25 route from the bus station to the University. The additional services come after student feedback highlighted a need for improved bus provision to campus and a trial of extra buses in the previous academic year.
Last year’s Keele SU Officer Team campaigned for improvements to bus services throughout the year. Keele SU Education Officer 2026/27, River Targett, said: “The new release of more buses should mean that they’re less crowded, which will be great for everyone, especially wheelchair users and other people that use public transport in the morning to make the commute to university easier.”
The buses will run until Friday 18th December 2026. Please note that Stoke-on-Trent, Royal Stoke University Hospital, and Hanley will not be included in these routes.
