University funds provision of extra bus services to campus
Students told us that getting to campus by bus in a morning was difficult, with not enough services and standing room only.
As a result, we have provided additional funding of £15,000 – and in collaboration with the Students’ Union - two extra buses will now run to Keele every morning to help commuter students get to campus more easily. Leaving Newcastle-under-Lyme bus station at 7.36am and 8.20am Monday-Friday, both buses will follow the usual 25 route from the bus station to the University.
The additional services follow a collaboration between the University and Students’ Union, after student feedback highlighted a need for improved bus provision to campus.
The Keele SU Officer Team have been campaigning for improvements to buses throughout the year. Keele SU Wellbeing Officer, Zoe Garnett said: “This is a great outcome driven directly by student feedback. Students raised real concerns about morning travel, and we’re pleased to have worked with the University to secure extra buses that better support students getting to campus on time.”
The additional buses will run until Thursday 2nd April 2026. Please note that Stoke-on-Trent, Royal Stoke University Hospital, and Hanley will not be included in these routes.
