Keele celebrates new European campus in Athens, Greece
Keele University has been granted a licence to open a new European campus in Athens, Greece.
The ceremony marking the official launch of Keele University, Greece took place in Athens, with attendees including representatives from the British Council; the Greek government; the leadership team from Keele University, Greece; and Keele’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kevin Shakesheff.
Supported by Metropolitan College - Greece’s largest private education provider - the new campus building advances Keele’s long-term international ambitions without requiring new capital investment by the University.
Keele University, Greece will deliver a suite of programmes from 2025 onwards. Programmes will be delivered at a new Athens campus which will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, innovation hubs, and collaborative learning spaces.
The initial programme offering includes:
- BSc (Hons) Bioengineering (Regenerative Medicine)
- BSc (Hons) Psychology with Neuroscience
- BA (Hons) English Language and Literature
- LLB (Hons) Law
- MSci Forensic Science with Policing (Integrated Masters)
The licence from the Greek Ministry of Education makes Keele one of only four international universities authorised to establish a University Legal Entity in Greece under new legislation.
The new academic collaboration enables Keele to expand its international footprint in Europe and deliver high-quality UK degrees to students in Greece, aligning with the University’s global strategy and commitment to widening access to world-class education.
Speaking at the official opening of the campus, Professor Kevin Shakesheff, Vice-Chancellor of Keele University, said: “We are thrilled to announce Keele University’s first European campus in Athens. This milestone reflects our commitment to delivering world-class education beyond the UK and creating opportunities for students to thrive in a truly global learning environment. Keele University, Greece will deliver innovative and high-quality education, and an outstanding experience for students in Greece across a range of new programmes.”
