Over the next few weeks, the University will be embracing all things festive with events and activities taking place across campus for students to get involved with. From cheerful get-togethers and creative workshops to cosy treats and campus celebrations, this year’s Christmas events promise to bring joy, laughter, and a little magic to the end of term.
Get into the festive spirit
Join us in Union Square on Monday (1st December) from 4pm as we kick off the festive season with sparkle, cheer, and community spirit at our Christmas light switch on! Join the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Society at The Nightmare Before Christmas watch party on Friday 5th December from 6pm-8pm in the MARS Room (Students’ Union). All are welcome to attend, and snacks will be provided.
Come and capture the Insta magic of Christmas at Keele Hall on Monday 8th December. Drop in any time between 4pm-8pm and enjoy a hot chocolate and festive treat as you take photos against the backdrop of Keele’s most beautiful building. After enjoying our picturesque setting on campus, take part in a drop-in ugly Christmas wreath workshop in Keele Hall's Old Library and see what horror you can create using recycled materials.

Our festive Santa Dash run is back on Thursday 11th December at 5pm! Get ready to pop on a Santa hat and get moving. Starting at the Sports Centre, join us for an approximately 1.6k fun run - and don’t worry, we’ll provide the hat! There’s still time to book your place. Join us on Friday 12th December for a festive screening of Elf in the Westminster Theatre (Chancellor’s building). Arrival is from 6pm, with the film starting promptly at 6.30pm, so be sure to come early, grab some popcorn and enjoy a Christmas classic. It's that time of year again! Escape [to] the Library returns with the 8th annual Keele Christmas Library Escape Game! Sessions are available from Monday 15th to Friday 19th December in the Campus Library Training Room. Each game lasts around 60 minutes, and your booking reserves a spot for a team of eight people. Join us for the 5-a-side Christmas Football Cup! Gather your friends and form a team to compete for the famous Steve Davies Cup on Thursday 18th December from 2pm-5pm at Walshaw Hall (Sports Centre). If you’ll be spending Christmas Day on campus, don't spend it without a treat! Sign up for a festive goodie pack filled with snacks, drinks, and presents from the KPA. Collect from the Clubhouse on Christmas Eve from 12pm, or packs can be left in the Tawney building for you to collect on Christmas Day. Please sign up by Saturday 20th December.
Enjoy fresh air, good company, and a scenic stroll around campus on Saturday 27th December from 1pm-2pm before warming up afterwards with free hot drinks at the KPA. Please complete a registration form if you would like to attend.

Spend a fun evening making homemade Christmas decorations in the Tawney building Student Common Room on Thursday 4th December from 6pm-8pm.
Create a festive greeting card to send to family or a loved one in the Tawney building Student Common Room on Sunday 7th December from 6pm-8pm. Come along to grab a hot drink, festive treat, and get cosy!
The Christian Union are hosting a Christmas card making event in the Walter Moberly building (WM0.01) on Monday 8th December from 5.30pm-7pm. S'mores toasties will also be available. All students are welcome to attend.
The Neurology and Neurosurgery Society invite you to their Christmas crafts and movie night on Tuesday 9th December from 6pm-8pm in the Chancellor’s building. Take part in gingerbread decorating and Christmas ornament painting while enjoying free hot chocolate and watching a Christmas movie while you craft.
Join the Goth Society for a Yuletide craft evening on Thursday 11th December from 5pm-9pm in the Walter Moberly building (WM0.01).
Decorate a gingerbread house in the Barnes Common Room on Friday 12th December from 4pm-5pm with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) Society. A Games Night will follow.
Join the Life Sciences Society on Tuesday 16th December from 5.30pm-6.30pm and get crafty and festive with a spot of bauble decorating. Everyone is welcome to take part and design/personalise your own Christmas bauble/s using paints, glitter, ribbons, and more. All are welcome to take part in our University Carol Service in the Chapel on Wednesday 17th December from 5.15pm-6.30pm, with traditional Christmas carols and readings, followed by refreshments. If you are unable to make the event, it will also be streamed live online.
Join us for the Chapel's annual Christingle Service on Thursday 18th December at 7pm - a classic Christmas tradition from your childhood! Led by the Chaplaincy team and the Student Chapel Fellowship, everyone is welcome to attend.

A Christmas Day service of Holy Communion with carols will be held in the Chapel on Sunday 21st December from 10.15am-11.30am. Please note there will be no Catholic Mass on Christmas Day.

Christmas lecture and Open Mic night
Space scientist, educator, and BBC Sky at Night presenter Dr Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock will explore the extraordinary breakthroughs that have revolutionised our understanding of the universe in a live stream (in-person screening) of the Royal Institute of Physics Christmas lecture on Thursday 11th December from 7pm-8pm in the Lennard Jones building (LJ1.75).
