Award-winning author and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Keele, Dr Lisa Blower is hosting an evening with Melvin Burgess, one of the most influential voices in contemporary young adult fiction, on Monday 8th December from 6pm in the Westminster Theatre (Chancellor’s building). The pair will discuss Burgess’s career, the evolution of YA fiction, and the power of storytelling. More information →
Our next inaugural lecture will be held on Tuesday 9th December. Professor Heidi Fuller, Head of School for the School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy, and Professor of Medical Science, will present her lecture, Genomes Without Borders: Personalised Medicine across Global Health Systems from 6pm in the Denise Coates Building (SIHLG0.30). All are welcome to attend, and there will be a drinks reception beforehand from 5pm-6pm.
Every Thursday, a member of the Chaplaincy team will be available at Keele in Town from 2pm-5pm. The Chaplaincy team are here for all students, regardless of faith or belief.
Join us on Friday 12th December for a festive screening of Elf in the Westminster Theatre (Chancellor’s building). Arrival is from 6pm, so grab some popcorn and enjoy a Christmas classic. Could you help out at this weekend’s lantern parade?
More than 200 lanterns will light up the streets of Newcastle-under-Lyme in a festive parade taking place from Keele in Town on Saturday 6th December from 5pm.
B.Arts and ArtsKeele are looking for volunteer stewards to support the parade. Responsibilities will include putting lanterns on bamboo poles, handing out and lighting lanterns, walking in the parade and ensuring guest safety, and helping to pack away kit. If you’d like to help out on the day, please email arts@keele.ac.uk before Friday 5th December.
Stewards will need to arrive at Keele in Town at 3.15pm. The public will collect their lanterns from 4.30pm and the parade will start at 5pm, lasting for around 45 minutes-1 hour. Piccoloco will be staying open on the day of the lantern parade, and ArtsKeele will cover travel expenses and offer refreshments.

Our Occupational Health team is collecting donations for Nantwich-based dog charity Pawprints to Freedom, and would appreciate any donations of dog food, bedding, towels, or treats. Donations can be dropped off until Monday 22nd December at the Occupational Health offices in the Dorothy Hodgkin building (DH0.15).
