Biography
Richard is a first-year, part time PhD student within the school of Social, Political, and Global Studies (SPGS). Prior to this he completed his first degree in International Studies with The Open University, and then an MA in American Studies with the University of Nottingham.
Richard's main research interest is the history of the US presidency.
Alongside the PhD Richard works as a Quality Manager for a large construction company, and is a subject matter expert on ISO standards, including quality management, business resilience and collaborative business relationships.
Research and scholarship
His PhD thesis will examine how former presidents attempt to define and safeguard their legacies after leaving office. The post-presidency of Richard Nixon will be used as a case study to examine how far he was able to rehabilitate his career after Watergate and his subsequent resignation.
