Biography
I graduated from Keele University with a first class dual honours BA in English Literature and Philosophy. I then continued my studies at Keele, completing an MPhil in Philosophy. My thesis offered a solution to John Locke’s problem of Spectral Inversion by recognising its Cartesian underpinnings and moving away from the Cartesian Paradigm into a less problematic paradigm inspired by Existential Phenomenology.
I am now working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Keele University and I am also engaged in a doctoral research project under the supervision of Prof. James Tartaglia, exploring the intersection of the Philosophy of Consciousness and the Philosophy of Technology.
Research Project Summary
My research project consists of offering a critique of the contemporary belief that Strong Artificial Intelligence is possible and that the automated technologies that would be bolstered by such an achievement are beneficial to society. As such, I am exploring the ‘archaeology’ and ethical implications of such ideas; highlighting both the flaws of the philosophy that supports them and the consequences of the ideas themselves.
