Improving Experiences for children with sensory difficulties
Led by Dr Claire Monroy and Caudwell Children, this project explored the barriers to social inclusion faced by children with sensory processing difficulties, with a particular focus on challenges within mainstream education.
Through interviews with families and clinicians, and a survey of 83 school staff, the study revealed that school environments often lack the sensory accessibility and cultural understanding needed to support neurodiverse pupils. The findings have informed a grant application to develop free training for schools and will be shared through a family-friendly report and academic publications.
