Engineering
Engineering is about solving the world’s biggest challenges – from clean energy to sustainable transport and digital innovation. It’s for problem-solvers who want to work across multiple disciplines, designing solutions that are both technically sound and socially responsible. Paying homage to the West Midlands’ engineering, manufacturing, and industrial heritage and strengths, our the new courses in Engineering offer students a range of engineering specialisms to prepare them for the modern engineering landscape and a variety of applications.
Each of our courses has been designed to offer students not only the practical skills needed for each specialism, but also the professional attributes needed for career-ready graduates. Students will have a high degree of flexibility in their courses, by exploring general engineering throughout the first year, before having the option to choose or switch between named specialisms from the second year onwards.
The University is also developing a new specialist facility to support the launch of its engineering degree programmes. The new space will be created inside the existing Lennard-Jones building and will house a state-of-the-art laboratory for the disciplines of chemical, electrical, mechanical and mechatronic engineering.
The facility will include fabrication workshops, 3D printing capabilities, a dedicated design suite, and collaborative workspaces, providing students with enhanced opportunities for hands-on learning.
