Developing Impact and Engagement at Keele

Embedding Public Engagement

Keele is a signatory to the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE)’s Manifesto for Public Engagement and, in October 2017, it was one of seven institutions awarded UKRI funding under the Strategic Support to Expedite Embedding Public Engagement with Research (SEE-PER) project. Over the course of this project, we listened to stakeholders and consulted with our researchers to shape our embedding programme, leading to a range of initiatives to enhance support, opportunities and recognition for PER at Keele.

The Knowledge Exchange (KE) Concordat

The KE Concordat was developed as a Sector-wide commitment agreed between Research England and Universities UK to improve knowledge exchange through self-evaluation, development and peer review. The Concordat's development was led by a group chaired by Keele's Vice-Chancellor Professor Trevor McMillan.

The national implementation timetable was published in September 2020, and will see self-evaluations carried out and action plans submitted during the period to July 2021.  Evaluation Group feedback will then be provided to each higher education provider, with recommendations for the award of competitive grants, and a sector-wide summary and evaluation.

Further updates will be provided here as the process develops.
