About the North Staffordshire Health Study

Help us reach our target of 6,000 returned questionnaires.  So far we've received 5,842!

Arthritis Research UK have funded Keele University to research how musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain and arthritis affect health, with the aim to ensure patients receive the best treatment to enable them to enjoy life and maintain a quality of life.

In this study, we will find out about common symptoms and health conditions experienced by people in North Staffordshire, to gain a better understanding of how these symptoms might be prevented or managed.

We are unable to include everyone in North Staffordshire; but we are joining forces with selected GP Practices across North Staffordshire, to approach around 14,000 patients to complete a single health questionnaire. By looking at the results from the completed questionnaires, we hope patients will help us learn about people’s health and the ways in which it affects their everyday activities. We hope this will allow better planning of health care services.

The completion of these questionnaires is invaluable to our research. To recognise the precious time given voluntarily to take part in the study, we will be donating £200 to a local charity for every 1,000 questionnaires we receive.
