Bringing Sustainability to Life at Keele

People-Planet-Place

People-Planet-Place is Keele University’s platform for exploring how sustainability connects with everyday life, supporting wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and positive community action across campus and beyond.

Whether you're interested in growing food, supporting wildlife, connecting with others, discovering more on topics such as clean energy technology, or simply taking a moment to pause, you can find flexible ways to engage with sustainability- or bring your own ideas to life.

At Keele, we're creating opportunities for people to connect, contribute, and shape a more sustainable future together.

Get involved

People–Planet–Place offers a variety of opportunities tailored to different interests, needs and aspirations. Some initiatives focus on practical environmental action, while others centre on wellbeing, creativity, learning, community engagement or leadership. While each initiative is different, they share a common purpose: bringing together environmental sustainability, wellbeing, the development of knowledge, skills and values, and community connection. Together, they provide opportunities to learn, grow, contribute and create positive change for a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient future.

Driven by Community, Powered by Partnership

At its heart, People–Planet–Place is a collaborative initiative built on shared purpose. We work with students, staff and external partners to bring people together, share ideas and create opportunities for positive change across campus and beyond. Each spring, the Festival of People–Planet–Place showcases the creativity, expertise and passion of our community through a wide range of events, from wellbeing and nature-based activities to workshops, talks and hands-on experiences. Join us in creating opportunities for people to connect, learn and take positive action together.

Social, Environmental & Ethical Responsibility in Action

As a key Keele graduate attribute, Social, Environmental & Ethical Responsibility (SEER) equips students with the knowledge, skills, values and attributes needed to understand complex challenges, make informed decisions and contribute positively in their studies, careers and communities. People–Planet–Place provides opportunities to build and evidence SEER through experiences such as Carbon Literacy Training, community engagement, environmental action, creative projects, wellbeing activities and volunteering. These experiences help build the capabilities needed to create positive change and thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
