Keele is very pleased to announce that five Athena SWAN awards have been confirmed for its schools and research institutes as follows:
Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences (iPCHS) - Silver
School of Medicine (SoM) - Bronze
Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine (iSTM) - Bronze
School of Chemical and Physical Sciences (CPS) - Bronze
School of Politics, Philosophy, International Relations and Environment (SPIRE) - Bronze
Athena SWAN is a progressive charter with a high bar in terms of conferment of awards. The five awards recognise the achievements of our Schools and RI’s in taking steps to address gender equality in its broadest sense and thus to making a positive difference to staff and students at Keele.
Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost and Co-Chair of the university’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Steering Group said:
“Our aim is that all schools and research institutes are achieving results in their work to address the Athena SWAN Charter principles, reflecting the University’s commitment to and focus on EDI.
"It is really pleasing to see good progress towards this aim and thanks are due to many colleagues who have contributed to the successful submissions, in particular: Professor Danielle van der Windt (iPCHS), Dr Abbie Rutter and Jeanette Forrester (iSTM),Vanessa Hooper, Emma Green and Dr Alan Harper (SoM), Dr Martin Hollamby; Dr Tess Phillips (CPS), Dr Linda Ahall and Dr Gemma Loomes (SPIRE), as well as Dr Hannah Barjat, Athena SWAN Support Officer, and Professor Susan Bruce, Institutional lead for Gender Equality.”
