Biography
Amy Dodds is a Lecturer in Anatomy and has been working at Keele University since 2021. Prior to this she graduated from the University of Sheffield with BSc Biomedical Science (hons) and MSc Human Anatomy with Education.
Research and scholarship
Amy’s scholarship interests include the use of gamification in anatomy education, and the usefulness of generative AI in creating formative assessment material for healthcare students.
Current scholarship projects include:
- Gamification: Designing novel games to encourage a holistic approach to anatomy revision
- anARTomy: Use of laminated anatomical drawings to promote student construction of knowledge
- Chatting nonsense or meaningful learning? Use of generative AI as a scaffold to support student self-study
Teaching
Amy teaches gross human anatomy, neuroanatomy, histology and embryology. She delivers a range of teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate level students from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to; medicine, life sciences, nursing and midwifery, physiotherapy, physician associate studies, paramedic science, and human anatomy. Amy is the Unit 14 (sensorimotor systems) lead for the MBChB program, and an Academic Mentor for first and second year MBChB students.
