A personal injury claim is a claim for compensation for a physical injury, or a psychological injury/condition that has been caused through the fault or negligence of someone else. In cases where an accident results in death, there may also be a fatal accident claim.

If you have suffered a personal injury, it can be detrimental to the quality of your life, either temporarily throughout the healing process, or permanently in cases of severe, life-changing or catastrophic injuries. In either instance, there is often a basis for a claim for compensation as recompense for the damages caused by the incident.

How can the clinic help?

Student Volunteering – Keele Legal Advice Clinics

Keele Legal Advice Clinics are open to Level 5 and 6 students as an extra-curricular opportunity. Applications open once a year, with shortlisted students invited to an assessment centre/interview.

Students can choose to participate in a chosen area of Law and opt-in to support our Personal Injury Clinic alongside their chosen clinic.

Successful applicants attend training covering client interviewing, legal research using practitioner databases, and providing practical legal advice. Students may also draft legal documents and advise clients both in writing and in meetings.

This experience supports your professional development and can be recorded on your HEAR, and may count as Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) for the SQE.

The Personal Injury Clinic is run in conjunction with Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors. Supervised by Daniel Denton of Hodge Jones and Allen, the Personal Injury Advice Clinic offers experience advising individuals on:

  • Fatal accident claims where an incident has resulted in death
  • Compensation for injuries that impact quality of life (temporary or permanent)
  • Claims involving serious, life-changing or catastrophic injuries
