Keele University’s School of Medicine short film has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The short film “Your Voice Matters” was created by Keele researchers alongside Mark Agathangelou, Samina Begum, and Claire Toussaint, who all live with chronic pain, to shine a spotlight on their experiences and encourage others to take part in health research.
Now the film has been shortlisted for the Royal Society for Public Health’s prestigious Health & Wellbeing Awards 2026 in the "Arts and Health" category.
Professor Danielle Van Der Windt, Director of the Arthritis UK Primary Care Centre at Keele University’s School of Medicine, said: "Being named a finalist by the Royal Society for Public Health is a tremendous achievement for our team. The project demonstrates the power of bringing together researchers and people with lived experience to amplify voices that are often unheard. We are proud to see this innovative work recognised on a national stage."
Dr Sarah Harrisson, Clinical Lecturer in Pain Sciences at Keele, who co-produced the film, added: "We are delighted to see our film shortlisted for this award. The recognition reflects the generosity of the people living with chronic pain who shared their experiences and demonstrates the important role that lived experience can play in shaping future research and care."
The winners will be revealed at the RSPH Health & Wellbeing Awards 2026 Ceremony at The Kings Fund in London on 26th November, and you can watch the full film on YouTube.
