Dr James Prior
Dr James Prior is Programme Director of the Public Health Management degree for the CDUTCM–Keele Joint Medical and Health Sciences Institute and a Senior Research Fellow in Epidemiology at Keele University’s School of Medicine.
He has extensive epidemiological and applied health research expertise, with research interests spanning public health, global health, primary care, health inequalities and the prevention and management of long-term conditions. His research has included work across the UK and internationally, including global health research focused on strengthening community-based care for HIV, diabetes and hypertension in sub-Saharan Africa. He has extensive knowledge in research methodologies, including systematic reviews, meta-analysis, cohort studies, diagnostic research and the use of routinely collected health data.
He has experience of teaching epidemiology, public health, statistics and research methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has supervised research students across a broad range of health-related disciplines. He is particularly interested in developing research and analytical skills and supporting the next generation of researchers and practitioners. He has also developed international academic collaborations through work with institutions and health services in Asia and Africa
