Keele lecturer receives prestigious fellowship from professional body
A Keele University lecturer has been awarded a prestigious fellowship from the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), the leading professional body for sport and exercise scientists in the UK.
Dr Clare Pheasey, from Keele's School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy, has been named a Fellow of CASES in recognition of her sustained contribution to the profession through education, professional practice, research, and leadership.
Fellowship is one of the highest honours awarded by CASES and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing sport and exercise sciences. It is awarded to professionals who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and impact throughout their careers, while helping to shape and strengthen the profession for future generations.
Dr Pheasey has worked across both applied practice and higher education, supporting the development of sport and exercise scientists for more than two decades. At Keele, she leads the Sport and Exercise Science and Rehabilitation and Exercise Science programmes and is passionate about creating opportunities that help students develop the skills, confidence, and professional experience needed to succeed in the sector.
Receiving the fellowship marks an important milestone in a career dedicated to supporting students, developing professional standards, and championing the value of sport and exercise science in improving health, wellbeing, and performance.
Dr Pheasey said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive Fellowship of CASES. Having been a member of the organisation for three decades, this recognition means a great deal to me.
“I have been fortunate to work with so many talented and inspiring athletes, students, colleagues, mentors, and industry partners over the years, and this award is as much a reflection of their support, encouragement, and influence as it is of my own contribution.
“As the new Director of the Institute of Sport at Keele University, I am excited to build on this recognition by continuing to champion innovation, collaboration, and opportunity, helping to shape the future of sport and exercise science at Keele and across the wider profession.“
Professor Zoe Knowles, Chair of CASES, added: “As Chair of the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences I am delighted to welcome Dr Clare Pheasey FCASES to the Fellowship. The award is a professional recognition for experienced practitioners who have demonstrated high standards of expertise, leadership, and contribution to the field. Dr Pheasey has certainly done that and has been a longstanding professional member of CASES recently adding pedagogy into her accreditation route. I look forward to working with her on future initiatives amongst the Fellowship and wish to extend my congratulations on this award.”
