Keele ranked among Top 5 universities for English in prestigious ranking
Keele has ranked among the Top 5 universities in England to study English in an esteemed national newspaper ranking.
The Guardian University Guide 2026 assesses universities on a range of factors including research quality, graduate prospects, and teaching excellence, and has ranked Keele 5th in England for its English course.
English students at Keele work alongside research-active academics and experts in a variety of literary genres, cultures, and historical periods, allowing them to develop their skills as a writer, creative thinker and analyst of language and literature.
They are also given the chance to take advantage of a range of placement opportunities embedded throughout the programme to prepare for their chosen career, benefiting from hands-on insights, work experience with skilled practitioners and collaboration with a range of creative peers.
Professor Siobhan Talbott, Head of the School of Humanities at Keele, said: “We're delighted that in the recent Guardian University Guide, English at Keele was ranked in the Top 5 in England. This reflects the high quality of teaching that our students receive, as well as the way that students value School-wide initiatives such as work placement modules and opportunities to engage with industry experts and alumni.”
