Lost property
Starting from the 1st August 2025, the University will be moving to a centralised process for the management of lost property on campus.
If you find an item of lost property
Please bring the item to the University Post Office, located inside Chapters Café on Union Square. The Post Office team will enter the item into our lost property management system and attempt to reunite it with its owner.
If you have lost an item
Please fill out the form below and our lost property management system will check to see if it has been handed in. If the system finds a match the Post Office team will contact you to arrange collection. If the system doesn’t find a match don’t worry, your enquiry will remain live in the system for 30 days and will be checked against any newly handed in lost property to see if it matches your missing item.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the campus Post Office will be temporarily reducing it's opening days. Starting from the 15 August we will be open from Monday to Friday (8.30 to 17.30) only. We hope to resume Saturday opening as soon as possible.
Further information
- Reasonable care will be taken to ensure the property is handed over to the rightful owner. However, Keele University does not accept liability for any errors or omissions.
- Items of lost property will be held at the Post Office for a period of 90 days, after this time any unclaimed items will be donated to charity, recycled, disposed of, or destroyed.
- We do not keep lighters, e-cigarettes, foodstuffs, soiled clothing, highly flammable substances or other items that may be hazardous to store.
- We do not keep credit or debit cards - these are securely destroyed when found. If you have lost a credit or debit card (including those inside wallets or purses), we recommend that you contact your bank immediately to report the loss and arrange a replacement.
- Keele Post Office is open Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30 and Saturdays 09:00 to 13:00 (hours may differ during Winter and Spring vacations).
- Please note the process outlined above currently only relates to items lost on the main University campus. Locations such as the CEC and Keele in Town will maintain their own local arrangements for Lost Property.
- If you lost your item before 1st August 2025, it could have been handed in at one of the locations below. If you lost your item before this date, please check with these locations. These areas will hold any lost property that was handed in before 1st August 2025 until 30th October 2025, after which any remaining items will be sustainably and securely disposed of.
