Heritage Day at Keele Hall
Sunday 20 September, 11am–3pm

Celebrate the history, landscape and heritage of Keele with a special day of tours, workshops and exhibitions across Keele Hall and its grounds. Visitors can explore the architecture, geology and traditions that shape Keele Hall and the University, with activities suitable for all ages.

Explore Keele Hall - Join guided heritage tours of Keele Hall to discover the stories behind its historic rooms, collections and architectural features. Tours will take place at 11:15am, 12:30pm and 2:15pm and will last between 30-45 minutes. Alongside this, a specialist Geology Tour led by Dr Ian Stimpson, will reveal the remarkable geological history of the Hall and surrounding landscape, time TBC. Book onto tours on arrival at  the welcome desk in the Great Hall. 

Creative Workshops - Take part in a hands‑on mosaic tile workshop led by local ceramic artist Sally Fitchard, inspired by the beautiful Minton tiles found on the Keele Hall veranda. Make your own mosaic to take away and contribute to a Keele Hall themed mosaic! Participants can also create their own postcard‑sized artwork to take away or post to someone special, with local artist Ian Mood, drawing on Keele Hall’s architecture, gardens and University heritage. Drop in, free, no pre-booking required. 

   

Collections & Exhibitions - The Raven Mason Collection of ceramics will be open for visitors to explore, Deb Skinner the Curator of the collection will be on hand to answer any questions at this exhibition of ceramics that showcases part of the region’s rich ceramic history. A special Postcards from the Past display will feature memories and stories shared by Keele University alumni, offering a unique glimpse into student life across the decades.

Make a Day of It - Bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawns if the weather is fine, take a lakeside walk, and spend a relaxed day discovering the heritage, creativity and community that make Keele unique.

Parking and Access

Parking is available in the Keele Hall overflow car park, located directly adjacent to the Hall. Disabled parking is provided in the main courtyard, though visitors should be aware that the courtyard surface is traditional cobblestone. Additional parking is available across several other car parks on the Keele University campus, all of which are free of charge on weekends.

Access to Keele Hall is via the main stairway entrance from the courtyard. A lift is available through the alternative courtyard entrance, and a member of staff will be on hand to assist anyone who requires lift access.

The main floor of Keele Hall is accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. Access to the lawns, terrace and lakeside walks is more limited; paths can be uneven, overgrown in summer, and muddy or slippery after rain. Visitors planning to explore the grounds are advised to wear long trousers and suitable footwear.
