Ceri Morgan
Remembering Aberfan: A Geopoetics Walk with Ceri Morgan
Wednesday 21 October | 12.00-1.00pm
Free event
Meeting point: Outside Keele Hall
October 21 marks the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster. To mark this significant anniversary, writer and academic Ceri Morgan (School of Humanities) invites participants to join a geopoetics walk exploring themes of landscape, memory, remembrance and solidarity.
Ceri is the niece of Mair Morgan, one of the teacher survivors of the Aberfan disaster, and will draw on this personal connection to reflect on the ways places can carry stories of both personal and collective significance. Taking inspiration from the legacy of Aberfan, the walk will offer an opportunity to consider the relationships between environment, history and lived experience, and how communities remember and respond to loss.
No prior knowledge is required, and all are welcome to take part.
This free lunchtime event forms part of Arts Keele's programme celebrating creative engagement with place, community and shared histories.
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
