Professor James Bell

Where have all the insects gone? A foray through Britain’s habitats and lower atmosphere to find out

Professor James Bell's Inaugural Lecture; Where have all the insects gone? A foray through Britain’s habitats and lower atmosphere to find out is taking place today at 6pm in Westminster Theatre, Chancellor’s Building.

James is Professor of Entomology and Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. His research in the School of Life Sciences includes both agricultural pests and insect conservation, which together provide a balanced insight into how terrestrial ecosystems should be sustainably managed for food and wildlife.

In his inaugural lecture, James will take you through his insect conservation research, from beetles to wasps, shining a spotlight on the drivers of change. He will draw on the UK’s world-class datasets from the Rothamsted Insect Survey, Britain’s citizen science data and UK weather radar data, highlighting results from his recent collaborative DRUID project.
