Artist Bio: Alex Blakey is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in mixed media and kiln-formed glass. Her creative practice frequently extends into diverse materials such as wood, metal, paper, and concrete, reflecting her experimental approach and adaptability. Drawing inspiration from history, memory, architecture, and the people she encounters, Alex’s work spans from intimate exhibition pieces to large-scale interactive installations and public artworks.

Her portfolio includes several notable public art commissions, including the commemorative flame sculpture at Tatton Park, The Wheel for Hatton’s Saltbrook Trail, and River Reflections in Gargrave. These projects have equipped her with extensive experience in project management, community consultation, event coordination, resource development, and budget oversight.

Community engagement is at the heart of Alex’s artistic practice. Every installation and public artwork she creates is accompanied by outreach initiatives and collaborations with local organisations. She has worked closely with schools across all age groups and abilities—including SEN settings—developing tailored educational resources and leading creative workshops. Her outreach also extends to adult groups, high street initiatives, community centres, and care homes, where she facilitates inclusive and inspiring creative consultation events.
