Get ready for a hands-on, high-energy creative adventure! Join artist Rachel Egan for a family-friendly workshop where you’ll design, build, and race your very own land yacht—a playful mix of lino printing and wooden construction.
️ What You’ll Do
- Assemble your yacht using pre-cut wooden shapes and dowels
- Decorate your sail using a tabletop printing press with pre-made lino stamps inspired by the exhibition—or draw and colour your own!
- Glue it all together with support and guidance from Rachel
- Race your yacht across the floor using newspaper wafting or a gentle push!

This workshop is perfect for families, kids, and creative adults alike. It’s adaptable for all abilities:

Artist info;
Rachel Egan is a multidisciplinary artist and experienced creative facilitator with a passion for engaging communities through hands-on, accessible art-making. Over the past three years, she has delivered regular art sessions with the 89th Sea Scouts, working with 5–8-year-olds on a wide range of activities including printing, painting, woodworking, drawing, and clay.
Rachel has also brought her creative energy to festival settings, leading drop-in sessions in embellishing wooden animals, collage, drawing, and clay. Her community-focused practice includes a collaborative mosaic wall project created with a local community group and secondary school, transforming a shared space in a housing estate.
With experience working with both young people and adults facing mental health challenges, Rachel brings sensitivity and inclusivity to all her sessions. Her teaching experience spans diverse audiences, including a recent creative writing workshop delivered to a group of 40 doctors.

Parking & access: lots of on street parking in the streets outside of the venue, also small P&D car park to the rear of Fenton Town Hall. The main entrance has steps, there is a side door with flat entrance accessed by a push button door, and access to a lift to the Ballroom.
