Page banners
All high traffic pages, including course pages, should include a banner.
The banner image dimensions are 1600x350px for course pages, 1600x500px for homepage and main landing pages, and 1600x300 for all other pages.
Caption text should be used on banners where possible with: 1 or 2 word(s) for the 'lead caption', and 3-5 words for the 'caption text'.
Course pages should not include text on the banner, but instead use 'Shield block text' where a key stat is available (see below for more information).
Banner images should be one image only. Multiple images on one banner should be avoided.
If page doesn't need a banner, instead include a 'content module' with a main heading and short introduction in the content block, and add a grey background, for example as above on this page.
Course page standard banner advice: Using the 'shield block text':
- If there is a single honours course with a good statistic (e.g. Physics 1st in the NSS 2017), use that on the shield
- If there is a course that doesn't have a good stat, use an institutional level stat (e.g. TEF Gold)
- If there is a combined honours course and only one course has a statistic, use that one
- If there is a combined honours course and both subjects have a statistic, both cannot fit in the shield. Instead, pick the strongest statistic, or use an institutional statistic.
