In this video Aiyana shares their personal experiences of studying at Keele. This video was filmed in November 2025 – experiences and opportunities may vary for future years.
My name is Aiyana Stanier-Filip, I'm a second year student in History.
I commute to Keele University by bus and the journey takes approximately around 15 to 17 minutes.
The benefits of commuting to Keele I'd say from my own personal experience is it's gotten me to learn how to manage my time a lot better. It's something that not only can I apply in, like, arranging how I construct my day, but also I can actually kind of apply it to how I study as well.
I was worried that I might miss out on social life activities but that was not the case at all. I’ve been involved in loads of things, been to lots of events, made lots of friends.
I was only really accustomed to staying away from home for short periods of time and for an academic year I feel like that was probably a bit too much for me. So just being in that environment that was kind of more comfortable whilst I was acclimating to student life.
During the day at like Keele Campus, often times between lectures, I'll go to the library to either study or look for books that pique my interest, for example, so topics like History.
Other times, when the weather is nice, I actually do like to go around Keele University and walk because the scenery is actually really pleasant.
