Current shoulder osteotomy angle does not produce a circular osteotomy
A team from the Orthopaedics and Biomechanics Research Group have conducted a cadaveric study examining the characteristics of a shoulder osteotomy performed at angles from 0 to 50 degrees (currently the preferred angle is 45 degrees). The study demonstrated that the optimum angle is closer to 23 degrees – this is being confirmed with further analysis and a further larger study.
