Keele to host virtual celebration to honour Class of 2020

A day of virtual celebrations is set to be held this month for Keele’s Class of 2020, to mark the end of their studies.

As the winter graduation ceremonies are sadly not able to go ahead at the moment due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Class of 2020 will be able to celebrate their accomplishments with a day of virtual celebrations on Thursday 21 January.

The day will be held to congratulate and celebrate students on completing their courses during what have been challenging circumstances.

The celebrations will be held across Keele’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter channels, with videos from staff and students as well as congratulatory messages from honorary graduates being shared throughout the day, all using the #KeeleClassOf2020 hashtag.

Students are also invited to share photos, videos and memories of their time at Keele which will be shared throughout the day across Keele’s social media accounts.

Professor Helen O’Sullivan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, said: “We are excited to once again mark the achievements of our graduating students through our virtual celebrations in what has been an extraordinary year. Our students have adapted tremendously to the challenges they have faced over the past year, so it is a pleasure to be able to recognise their successes in this way.”

Professor Trevor McMillan, Vice Chancellor of Keele University, added: “Our Class of 2020 should be extremely proud of themselves and the way they have adapted to the challenges posed by the pandemic. I'm pleased to be joining them at the virtual celebration and look forward to when we can return to campus to hold official graduation ceremonies.”
