TMT First
An award-winning Staffordshire entrepreneur, who has spearheaded a pioneering digital device repair apprenticeship, is gearing up his business to repair up to 20,000 mobile phones a month.
Adam Whitehouse, founder of Newcastle-under-Lyme-based TMT First is at the forefront of the first-of-its-kind Level 3 course, which is needed to help repair and support up to 80 million mobiles and other electronic devices in the UK.
Adam said: “There is such a demand to repair technology. Currently, at our busiest, we repair 8,500 devices a month. Our ambition is to grow to 20,000 a month and to do that we need to establish ourselves as a go-to repair partner for manufacturers.
“Part of that solution is to have the National Digital Device Repair Technician Apprenticeship in place. It keys into our strategy for further growth as well as providing a green and sustainable way of ending the throw-away device culture.”
Adam, who has won three of Keele’s Breaking the Mould awards (Going for Growth, Collaboration of the Year and Sustainability) says the University’s support has been instrumental in his success.
He added: “We are involved with Keele University in many ways, and we are realising that they are a superpower that can help any organisation that is prepared to put in the effort to build that relationship.
“Whether that is personal training, being involved in award nominations and judging through to larger initiatives such as a management Knowledge Transfer Partnership, their expertise and insight is invaluable.”
