AHRC North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership

The North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership brings together the universities of Keele, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, Salford and the  Royal Northern College of Music and offers postgraduate studentships, supervision, training and skills development across the full range of the AHRC’s disciplines. We are one of eleven Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) and seven Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) brought about for this purpose.

The DTP’s objectives are to:

  • Promote the disciplinary capability and international research excellence necessary to underwrite the regional delivery of world-class PhD supervision and training in the arts and humanities
  • Equip postgraduates in the arts and humanities with world-leading knowledge and skills appropriate to meeting the academic, professional and socio-economic demands of the twenty-first century. Keele’s academic lead on this programme is Dr Kate Cushing.

The final cohort of funded PhDs began in October 2025 and there will be no further funding calls although the DTP will continue until the final cohort complete their PhD degrees. Training and events will also continue.
