How to register

Register for modules from a previous level of study

You may be allowed to proceed into your next level of study if you have not passed all of your modules.

If this applies to you, in early September you will receive final confirmation in your progression email that you are allowed to proceed into your next level of study (after the re-assessment period in August).

If you are proceeding into your 2nd year with level 4 modules outstanding, you will either have to take re-assessment in your failed level 4 modules (you are allowed up to 2 attempts in total) or you will need to select a new level 4 option module to take and pass during your 2nd year studies.

If you have failed a level 4 Compulsory or Option module and have not used your 2 attempts, you must take re-assessment in your failed module.

If you have failed a level 4 Compulsory or Option module and have changed your course with effect from your 2nd year you may be allowed to replace your failed core module with a level 4 option.  You should contact the Student Services Centre team to get confirmation if you believe this applies to you student.services@keele.ac.uk, phone 01782 734481.  If the Student Services Centre team confirm that you can replace your failed core module with a level 4 option, you will be asked to provide details of an appropriate option module.

If you have failed your Global Challenge Pathway module and have used your 2 attempts, you must register for a subject related level 4 option module during your 2nd year.  It will be your responsibility contact the Student Services Centre to register for an appropriate option module. 

If you have failed your Global Challenge Pathway module and have not used your 2 attempts, we will assume that you will take re-assessment in your failed level 4 Global Challenge Pathway module, but if you wish you can choose to opt out of the Global Challenge Pathway and register for a subject related level 4 option module during your 2nd year.  It will be your responsibility contact the Student Services Centre to register for an appropriate option module if you decide to take another module.  Please note that by opting out of the Global Challenge Pathway you will no longer be entitled to obtain the Global Challenge Pathway accreditation.

You MUST pass any outstanding level 4 modules during your 2nd year. You will NOT be allowed to proceed into your 3rd year with less than 120 level 4 credits.

If you are proceeding into your 3rd year with a level 5 module outstanding you will either have to take re-assessment in your failed level 5 module (you are allowed up to 2 attempts in total) or you may be allowed to select a new subject related level 5 option module to take and pass during your 3rd year. Please see below.

If you have failed a level 5 Elective module and have not used your 2 attempts, we will assume that you will take re-assessment in your failed level 5 elective module, but if you wish you can choose to register for and take a different subject related level 5 option during your 3rd year. It will be your responsibility to contact the Student Services Centre to register for an appropriate option module if you decide to take another module. If you choose to take a different subject related level 5 option, we would also strongly recommend that you choose one from the Autumn semester.

If you do not pass your outstanding level 5 module you will not be awarded a degree award.

Registering for modules to make up credits

There will be a number of opportunities for you to register for a new modules from your previous level of study as follows:

In early September you will be sent a module selection form to be completed and returned by no later than 17 September 2023. This deadline is to ensure that we have time to register you onto your chosen prior level module prior to the start of the Autumn semester.

You will have a very short timescale to complete and return your module selection form. You will need to research the modules and find one of interest to you that fits with your timetable.

If you are a 2nd year student

You will be instructed to use the level 4 options for 2nd year students search function on the modules website to find the modules available to you.

If you are a 3rd year student

You will be instructed to use the level 5 modules for 3rd year students search function on the modules website to find the modules available to you.

Please take time to research the modules and please note that you cannot repeat a module you have previously taken.

Once you have made your choice please complete the form and return it by email to student.services@keele.ac.uk by no later then 10 September 2023.

We appreciate that sometimes a module you have chosen is not as you expected or you may find you have a timetable clash so depending the teaching week you may be allowed to change.

Please ensure that you have researched the modules available to you and made sure that it is available by checking it is not full.

Finding out about the modules allocated to you

You will receive a final confirmation of your allocated modules for the academic year 2024/25 by email to your Keele email address no later than Sunday 22 September 2024.

For returning students, your provisional online timetable for your lectures will also be made available to you in eVision from mid/late August (for Semester One modules) and you will also be able to see which modules you have been allocated from this.

For new entrants timetables will be available from 16 September (Semester One modules)

If there is a problem with the number of modules you have been allocated to or which modules you have been allocated you should visit the changing modules section of this site where you can complete a form or email the team to make the changes you need.

Once you have been allocated to the correct number and type of modules, we strongly encourage you to stick with your choices.  However, we appreciate that sometimes a module you have chosen is not as you expected or you may find you have a timetable clash so depending the teaching week you may be allowed to change.

You MUST register for ALL of your modules by NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 18 OCTOBER 2024 which is the end of the third week of teaching in semester 1.
