2019/20 Examination Boards
Please find below detailed guidance for the operation of Examination Boards during Summer 2020.
Guidance for Subject Examination Boards (2020) – this has been redeveloped this academic year and details all the guidance. If you have any queries in relation to the guidance document, please contact Dorothea Ross-Simpson, Head of Academic Quality and Student Complaints, or Ed McCauley, Quality Assurance Manager, either on Teams or on firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Operational guidance for processing of marks and awards for finalist undergraduate students - this takes into consideration the changes that have been made as a result of the contingencies being put in place around the Covid-19 outbreak.
The following documents explain processes that are being adopted for this year, purely as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and which impact upon undergraduate degree students at different levels of study:
Process for automatically updating Level 4 modules to a Pass - this explains how SAS will be operationalising the decision by the Senate to allow Level 4 degree students to automatically pass and be awarded credits for any outstanding Level 4 modules.
Process for attributing and recording marks for dummy 'SEM1' modules - this explains how Schools should attribute and process marks upon such modules, which are being added to the SCIMS record of all undergraduate degree students (initially finalists) who have undertaken SEM1-2 modules in this academic year at either Level 5, 6 or 7.
If you have any queries in relation to the operational guidance and processes, please contact Laurence Fuller, Head of Student Records and Examinations either on Teams or on firstname.lastname@example.org
The constitution, membership and responsibilities of Subject Examination Boards are described in Regulation D3 Boards of Examiners.
Details of the procedures to be followed in the instance of an external examiner being unable to attend a meeting of the Board of Examiners can be found here: Procedures to be followed for non-attendance at exam boards and the forms completed and returned to the Head of Academic Quality and Student Conduct.
