A mature Turkey Oak Quercus cerris that pre-dates the University and had the huge lower branches removed to make room for the buildings and road leaving large callused scars.
This is a non-native semi-evergreen tree distinguished by its longer and narrower glossy leaves, long whiskers around the buds and by its “hairy” acorn cups.
