1st Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Scholar comes to Keele University‌

Sam Kellam, a masters student in nursing has arrived to study at Keele from Windsor University. She is the first recipient of an international palliative care collaboration scholarship designed to engage scholars and communities to support best practices in end of life care. Sam is undertaking placements at the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice to enhance ‌her understanding of palliative care provision in the UK. She is particularly interested in the role of reflection in enabling health care professionals provide individualised patient care.

The Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships (QES) Program is managed through a unique partnership of Universities Canada, the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF), Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) and Canadian universities.  It is made possible with financial support from the Government. The School of Nursing and Midwifery is delighted to be one of the initial partnerships for this prestigious programme.
