The 14th International Conference on Early Intervention in Mental Health was held from 9 July to 13 July at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.  The aim of this conference was to develop early intervention strategies that are culturally competent, safe, and appropriate to all regions of the world and to promote discussions about the need to adapt programs to these new areas. Prof Saeed Farooq delivered an oral presentation on “Developing culturally sensitive pathways and guidelines for the management of First Episode Psychosis (FEP) in Pakistan”. The presentation highlighted the importance of the development of guidelines to manage first-episode psychosis and establish care pathways in lower-middle-income (LMIC) settings by involving stakeholders and consensus-building. The presenter emphasized that these guidelines and care pathways are probably the first guidelines developed in the LMIC following a well-documented methodology and it is feasible to modify and adapt current guidelines using an interactive approach.
