Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Climate Comission

Supporting a fair and just green transition to a nature-rich net zero.

In November 2021, Keele University convened a panel of sustainability leaders from across Staffordshire to discuss the COP26 climate summit and its implications for the county. The panel, which included representatives from local government, businesses, and academia, discussed the need for decisive action to address climate change.

The leaders agreed that it was not enough to simply raise awareness of the issue. They argued that concrete steps needed to be taken to support residents, communities, and organizations in making the transition to a low-carbon future.

The vision of the Climate Commission is to accelerate action through collaborative cross-sector working to deliver an inclusive, just and economically secure transition to a net zero, climate resilient and nature-rich Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, placing this area as a leader in taking local collaborative action on these global challenges.
