The course I chose to study was a Master of Science degree in Advanced Computer Science. I received my results in October 2019 ahead of my graduation, scheduled for January 2020.

The main reason I chose the course was because of the high regard MSc courses are held in and I chose the subject due to my growing interesting in computer science.

Keele University was my first choice, mainly due to my location, but also due to its growing reputation as an up and coming university.

The course was great because it offers modules on some of the main areas in industry, for example, data analysis, web technologies and distributed intelligent systems. Modules are also offered in cutting edge areas of industry such as cloud computing and I left Keele able to immediately begin a web development side business creating industry level websites for small business owners.

The teaching and tutor support is of the best quality from starting the course to completing the dissertation or placement that comprises the MSc project. I leave Keele with friends and contacts amongst the teaching staff due to the close interactions with tutors available on the course.

I would recommend this course to anyone looking to further their studies in computer science to aid in a PhD application or further their career in industry because it is a fantastic way of learning and demonstrating your skills to potential employers or academic supervisors.

Personally, I am looking to work in software engineering or cyber security whilst maintaining a business that offers affordable websites for entrepreneurs who are looking for web solutions to overcome information asymmetries and further their brand.

The cloud computing, programming and web technologies modules are particularly useful to me because they offer skills that parallel the skills required to work in my chosen job sectors.

Having an MSc, MA or MBA widens career opportunities and demonstrates competency to employers. I'm hoping achieving this MSc will support experience gained in industry to allow me to realise my full potential and achieve all my career goals.
