Biography

Dan's role in the Faculty is to lead the provision of all education programmes in the four Faculty Schools. Working with colleagues in the Faculty his work ensures that the programmes offered meet student needs, are of high quality and reflect best educational practice. Dan's own research is all related to understanding the educational journey of students. Most recently he has been using diary methodologies to gain a deep understanding of students' experience of studying.

Dan has over 20 years of experience in education leadership. Prior to joining Keele Dan was Director of Education at Birmingham University Business School. He has has also held roles At Oxford Brookes University and the University of Worcester. Prior to moving into education Dan qualified as an accountant and help professional roles in the National Audit Office as well as various local government positions.

Dan is a member of the ACCA's Global Education Forum

Teaching

Dan's recent teaching mainly relates to the use of data analytics techniques in business. In particular he teaches students data literacy and the techniques of communicating the outcomes of analysis in ways that help businesses improve operations and strategic decision making.

Supervision

Dan supervises PhDs in the area of government financial accountability as well as in higher education practice.
