Research Funding from Organon Pharma

Keele University researchers based in the School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP) have been awarded funding from a leading UK pharmaceutical company, Organon Pharma.  The funding will help support the development of MRI protocols for the evaluation of subdermal contraceptive implants.  For a very small number of women there can be challenges in identifying the location of an implant prior to removal.  It is, therefore, essential to develop optimum imaging protocols to support clinicians.

Dr Andrew England, Senior Lecturer and Principal Investigator said “This is a fantastic opportunity for Keele University to showcase its imaging expertise and work with clinical colleagues at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, University of Manchester, German Oncology Center (Limassol, Cyprus) and Organon Pharma to deliver improved patient care.”  The project will initially run for a period of six months and involve MRI scanning at the University of Manchester.
