Keele Green Festival 2024 will be a celebration of sustainability at Keele University! Sustainability involves the environment, social justice, global equality, health and wellbeing, economic stability and more as illustrated by the 17 Global Goals. For 2024, the Festival will be themed around ‘Action & Activism’. During Keele Green Festival you will be able to learn about issues like social justice, climate change, how Keele embeds sustainability in all that we do and, find out how you can make an impact.

There will be events before and beyond Keele Green Festival relating to sustainability so please do look on the Keele App for upcoming events. See upcoming events in the Keele App.

Engaging communities and businesses on sustainability research 11:00 - 12:30

Are you a community group or business passionate about tackling challenges and developing creative solutions?

For Keele Green Festival, the Keele Business School and the Institute for Sustainable Futures are running a session to encourage businesses and communities to share research opportunities and interest.

This interactive workshop will bring together diverse voices from communities and businesses to spark new research ideas and collaborations. Inspired by the open and playful spirit of a 'sandpit', we'll explore shared challenges, identify emerging trends, and build partnerships for potentially impactful research projects.

Academic colleagues at Keele University will be able to share their experiences on community and/or business sustainability research projects and how they can be of interest.

Whether you're a community group, a small business, a large corporation, or simply an individual with a passion for research, this event is for you!

Keele Postgraduate Association

We had too much to fit into one week, and sustainability will always go beyond a week. Keep an eye out for upcoming sustainability related events in the Keele App.

The SDG Teach In

The Sustainable Development Goal Teach In is a campaign to put the UN SDGs, and sustainability, at the heart of all stages of education and across all disciplines. The annual campaign calls for educators to include the SDGs within their teaching, learning and assessment during the campaign and beyond. Students are welcomed to encourage their educators to embed sustainability into the teaching too.

Why not 'Green Week'?

Green Week does not reflect how Keele would like to share sustainability, as 'sustainability' is more than just a week! Plus, the month of March provides us time to link in with other campaigns for example; the SOS UK SDG Teach In (March), Student Money Week (4th March), International Women's Day (8th), International Day of Happiness (20th), Food Waste Action Week (18th-24th March), Earth Hour (23rd March).

What's next?

Look out for Earth Day celebrations taking place on the weekend of the 22nd April (20th, 21st and 22nd April 2024).
