Databases and E-Journal Collections

You can search or browse these online collections to find e-journal articles.

In some cases the full-text of an article will be available directly from your search results to view online. If the full-text isn't available from your search results, look for the @Keele logo and click this. This will search all our e-journal collections and provide a link to the whole paper if available, or direct you to where a paper copy may be found in the Library's print journal collection.

EBSCO
Academic Search Complete contains the full text of over 8500 journals covering almost every area of academic study. EBSCO also provides access to AgeLine, with resources on aging, retirement and health care services.

HeinOnline 
A journal database containing full-text international and US journals, over 400 titles, almost all of which date back to the first volume. If you are off campus use the "UK Federation login", select "University of Keele" from the list, click "Authenticate". When prompted type in your Keele username and password to log into the HeinOnline service.

ProQuest 
Access to many different resources, including the Applied Social Sciences Index (ASSIA); Social Services Abstracts, covering social work, human services, social welfare and social policy and Sociological Abstracts.
You will need your Keele username and password to access ProQuest from off-campus.

Science Direct 
An online database which contains the full-text of more than 1000 journals in the life, physical, medical, technical and social sciences.

British Journal of Social Work
Published for the British Association of Social Workers, this is the leading academic social work journal in the UK. The full-text of articles in this journal are available online from 1971 (volume 1) to the current issue. 

Child and Family Social Work
Articles on research, theory, policy and practice in the field of social work with children and their families. The full-text of articles in this journal are available online from 1998 (volume 3) to the present (with a 12 month embargo). 

Children and Society

Critical Social Policy
Critical Social Policy is a peer-reviewed journal that provides an international forum for advocacy, analysis and debate on social policy issues. The full-text of articles in this journal are available online from 1999 (volume 19) to the current issue. 

Journal of European Social Policy
Articles on a wide range of social policy issues including ageing, pensions and social security, poverty and social exclusion, education, family policies, health and social care services, gender and migration. The full-text of articles in this journal are available online from 1999 (volume 9) to the current issue. 

Journal of Social Work Practice
The Journal of Social Work Practice publishes articles devoted to the exploration and analysis of practice in social welfare and allied health professions. The full-text of articles in this journal are available online from 1997 (volume 11) to the current issue.

Our other paid-for source of case reports and UK legislation, but it also contains material relating to tax cases, consumer law, local government, and trading standards. Titles include the Butterworths Employment Law Handbook, Trading And Consumer Law, Halsbury's Laws and Local Government Reports.
