Introducing the Research Scientist Apprenticeship at Keele University.

The Research Scientist Apprenticeship is delivered through the MSC, with a focus on technical leadership in either analytical or biomedical science. Our goal is to elevate our learners to a master's level, offering two distinct cognates within the MSC program: one centered on leadership and management, and the other on scientific content at level seven.

All assessments and coursework for our learners are directly linked to their respective organizations. This master's degree is highly beneficial within NHS labs, as it can aid in career advancement towards Band seven positions. It provides a deep theoretical understanding of various aspects, such as team dynamics and project management, enhancing their daily role.

The analytical strand of the apprenticeship is designed to broaden learners' comprehension of various techniques. We encourage them to apply what they've learned at Keele University to real workplace challenges, integrating their newfound knowledge into problem-solving.

Keele University has been incredibly accommodating, especially during busy work periods with impending deadlines. Our apprentices develop strong leadership and management skills, enabling them to tackle challenges and lead projects effectively.

One of our apprentices shared their experience of interviewing for a three-year secondment in an IT project. Many of the interview questions were based on projects and processes, and the apprenticeship's modules provided highly relevant experience.

This apprenticeship program offers a better understanding of the rationale behind the methods and analyses performed in their roles.

What makes this apprenticeship truly valuable is the positive impact it has on both employees and employers. It equips technical staff with the skills needed for the 21st century, fostering growth and development.
