So, my name is Jo Protheroe, and I am a Professor of General Practice at Keele University. I work at Keele surgery, where we serve a diverse patient population, including students and residents from the local villages and community, creating a pleasant mix.

As a GP at my core, it's essential to continue practicing. Even in my roles at the university, being a GP remains my primary focus. When engaging in research, which primarily involves primary care research, I investigate topics that impact general practice populations.

In my teaching role within the undergraduate medical course, I emphasize primary care and community medicine. Having a mix of roles in my career is fulfilling, as each aspect complements the other. One role informs the next, especially with research. For instance, observations in my practice population may spark research inquiries, and findings from research may influence my approach in practice.
