Érettségi Bizonyítvány (Secondary Education Graduation Certificate) You must have Grade 5 ('jeles') in all subjects, including Biology or Chemistry and a second science.

We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

Applicants would be expected to have five subjects at jeles (excellent/grade 5) with jó (good/ grade 4) in maths, physics, chemistry and biology in grade 10.

English Language requirements must be met.

Irish Leaving Certificate: Students should offer at least six H1 or H2 grades at higher level, to include Biology or Chemistry, plus two more of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, physics, agricultural science, mathematics/applied mathematics.

Junior Certificate: A minimum of five Grade As are required with english, maths and all sciences offered at grade B as a minimum.

Diploma di Maturità or Diploma di L’Esame di Stato (formerly Diploma di Maturita) acceptable with overall score of at least 90 to include two sciences at 90 including Chemistry or Biology.

Five subjects should be achieved at 90% in Year 10 with maths, physics, chemistry and biology achieved at distinction (80%) at [lower school level] (8 or above).

Brandos Atestatas (Secondary School Leaving Certificate: This qualification is not considered high enough for you to apply for medicine at Keele. You will need to supplement it with GCE A-levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would be expected to have 90% in maths and all sciences in their secondary school leaving certificate.

English Language requirements must be met.

Pass Diplome de Fin d’Etudes Secondaires with a minimum of 48 points (trés bien) including the sciences naturelles and maths (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) at 48 points or above.

Matriculation Certificate Exam: Three Advanced levels at AAA (as per our A level requirements) to include two sciences, particularly chemistry or biology.

O levels or Secondary Education Certificate: five grade As (2s in SEC) in should be achieved with B (3 in SEC) in maths, English and all sciences.

Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO) acceptable with anoverall mark of 8 from the Natuur en Gezondheid (Nature and Health) or Natuur en Techniek (Nature and Technology) stream. Profile-specific sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Maths OR Chemistry, Physics, Maths) should be achieved at 8,8,8.

Lower secondary: Five 8s are required. All sciences and maths should be achieved at 7 in Year 4. We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

Świadectwo ukonczenia gimnazjum (lower than GCSE) We require a minimum of five subjects at grade 6 (Excellent / Celujacy). Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics must be passed at a minimum of grade 4 (good / Dobry).

Egzamin dojrzalosci (Matura) 80% required in standard level subjects and 80% in advanced level subjects. The subjects offered should include two sciences at 80% at Advanced level including Chemistry or Biology. We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

Certificado de fim de Estudos Secundarios / [Diploma/Certificado Nível Secundário de Educação] acceptable with an overall grade of 18. Two sciences, including Chemistry or Biology, must be offered at 18 and maths.

Lower secondary/Esino Básico: Applicants would be expected to have 14 or above in maths, physics, chemistry and biology.

We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

Degree – 16+ required – Good with distinction plus 17 in final school grades including two sciences.

English Language requirements must be met.

Romanian Baccalaureat average of 9 with no less than 9 in any subject including sciences. Sciences, including Chemistry or Biology, must be offered (maths will be accepted as a science), plus equivalent of GCSE maths and sciences at grade B.

Certificat de Absolvire a Ciclului Inferior al Liceului (Junior High School Graduation Certificate). We require a minimum of five subjects at 9. Maths, biology, chemistry and physics should be achieved at 8 or above.

OR Foiae Matriculare we require a minimum of five subjects at 9 in Year 10. Mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics must be passed at a minimum of 8. The first three years of Foiae Matriculare should be provided.

Vysvedčenie o maturitnej skúške (Secondary School Leaving Certificate)(Slovakia) is seen as equivalent to A level standard. We would be looking for Excellent grades (1) in the Maturita including two science subjects at 1.3.

We require a minimum of five subjects at chválitebný (2) in Year 11. Mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics must be passed at a minimum of dobrý (3).

We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

English Language requirements must be met.

Maturitetno spričevalo (Matura Certificate) should be offered with Grade 5(Excellent) overall. Two sciences must be offered at higher level grade 5 including chemistry or biology. Maths should be achieved at grade 4.

We require a minimum of five subjects at prav dobro 4 in Grade 11. Mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics must be passed at a minimum of dobro (3).

We may request to see transcripts of courses completed and grades for final three years of study.

English Language requirements must be met.

Título de Bachiller must be achieved with 9 overall with 9 in sciences. Two sciences should be offered at grade 9 including chemistry or biology.

Título de Graduado en Educacion Secundaries Obligatoria (ESO) accepted (except English Language). We require five subjects at grade 9. Mathematics and all sciences must be passed at a grade 7 or above.

Fullstandigt Slutbetyg Fran Gymnasieskolan acceptable in lieu of A-levels with overall mark of MVG/B/18. Two sciences including biology or chemistry must be achieved at 18 /MVG/B. No less than VG/15/C in any subject.

Slutbetyg Fran Grudskola acceptable. We require five subjects at C/15 or better in lieu of GCSE on a subject for subject basis (except English Language). Maths, physics, chemistry and biology must be passed at grade D/13 or above.

Please declare completed courses and grades for final three years of study on your application.

Federal Matura must be offered (Certificat de Maturité / Certificat de Maturité Cantonal reconnu par la Confédération)or Certificat de Maturité / Maturitatsausweis / Attestato di Maturita/ (A level equivalent) You must achieve an overall average of 5 with 5.5 in two sciences to include chemistry or biology and another science (Biology, Physics or maths). All sciences should be offered.

All study from the final 3 years of study will be considered. Please declare completed grades for final three years on your application. Applicants would be expected to have excellent marks in maths, physics, chemistry and biology in lower school (please refer to GCSE requirements).

Applicants are advised to send transcripts to the School of Medicine before applying to check their eligibility.

English Language requirements must be met

The Certificate of (Complete) Secondary General Education (Վկայական միջնակարգ (լրիվ) ընդհանուր կրթության) is not a high enough level qualification to apply for medicine at Keele but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education. English Language requirements must also be met.

Candidates are advised to write directly to the Admissions Office, giving full details of all exams already taken and to be taken.  As the examination system varies from state to state, and universities in Australia set their own faculty and course entry requirements, it is difficult to equate this system with English A levels.

ATAR

Overall score of 95 with 80 in sciences. English & maths should be passed at 75

New South Wales

HSC (Higher School Cert) 90+ in sciences and maths (Band 6)

Queensland

Year 10 cert with mostly VHA grades: maths, English & sciences must be at the minimum of HA.
QCE and QCS must give an Overall Position (OP) in band 1, 2 or 3. Each Field Position (FP) should be 1 or 2. QCS (Core skills) should be passed with at least grade B.

Graduates

need to offer a Grade Point Average of 5 or above

and GAMSAT:

  • an overall score of 55 or more with a section III score of 58 or more supported by a score of 50 or more in all other sections, OR;
  • an overall score of 58 or more with a section III score of 55 or more supported by a score of 50 or more in all other sections

Alberta

3 A grades (85%+) in the High School Diploma in any subjects
AND
2 A+ grades (90%+) in the High School Diploma from two of the following: biology, chemistry or maths
AND
Grade B (70%) in Maths, English and Sciences in Grade 11 of High School.

British Columbia

3 A grades (85%+) in the High School Diploma in any subjects
AND
2 A+ grades (90%+) in the High School Diploma from two of the following subjects: biology, chemistry or maths
AND
Grade B (73%) in maths, English and sciences in Grade 11 of High School.

Ontario

 

A Secondary School Diploma at Advanced level with six Grade 12 U subjects (including the sciences).
Five subjects (to include biology or chemistry and another science) should be achieved at 85% or better and a further subject at 80%+
AND
Grade B (70%) in maths, English and sciences in Grade 11 of High School

Graduates

A BSc Degree in a science, or medically related subject, with a Grade Point Average of 3 or more
AND
A good High School or Secondary School Diploma with 75% in two sciences including biology or chemistry at Grade 12
AND
Grade B in maths, English and sciences in Grade 11 of High School 

 

Our degree does not give any exemptions to those examinations required to practise medicine in Canada.

Students whose first language is not English and those not taught in English will be expected to achieve IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each sub-test. Please see our website for English Language Requirements.

 

 

The Senior High School Diploma, Chinese University Entrance Examination or 'Gaokao' must be supplemented with GCE A-levels in Biology and Chemistry and another subject, with grade A in each.

Sciences and maths not offered at A level must be offered at Gaokao.

English Language requirements must be met.

The Secondary Education Certificate of Al-Azhar on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in the SEC AL Azhar.

English Language requirements must be met.

HKDSE - 555 is required with Chemistry, Biology, Physics and/or Maths.

All the sciences and maths should also be achieved at grade B or above or taken to GCSE equivalent with a minimum of 5 Grade As in total at GCSE level.

Applicants are expected to achieve the Icelandic Stúdentspróf Natural Science stream with an average score of 9.3 but with no subject less than 7.25.

Sciences and maths must have a minimum of 9.

Applicants are expected to achieve a minimum of 90% across all subjects in Class 12 in the Science Stream (including biology, chemistry, physics) from Central Board or All India Board only. Students applying in the final year of high school should aim to provide predicted scores along with class XI achievements on their UCAS form.

Biology, chemistry, physics & maths should be achieved at 85% in Class X.

English Language requirements must be met.

Applicants possessing a degree that has been awarded after three years of study:

  • Students who have completed a minimum of a three-year degree and who have obtained first class at a reputable university will be considered
  • It must be in a science or medically related subject
  • A good high school transcript is still required with 60% or above in Maths and all sciences

Pre-University Certificate is acceptable in Experimental Science Stream with marks of 17 or above.

The High School Diploma (Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education) should also be achieved at Grade 14 or above with 14 in sciences and maths.

The Adadiya / Secondary School Certificate / Certificate of Preparatory Education qualification on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education

English Language requirements must be met.

Bagrut / Matriculation Certificate is acceptable with 90%+ (Excellent) overall with 95% in two sciences to include Biology or Chemistry.

High School Completion Diploma. HSCD should be achieved at 85% (very good) or above with 85% or more in maths and the sciences.

English language requirements must be met.

Certificate of General Secondary Education. This Qualification on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education.

English Language requirements must be met.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. This qualification on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education.

English Language requirements must be met.

We recognise the award as a level-3-equivalent qualification for entry to the MBChB programme at Keele for international fees-status students who have undertaken the advanced level foundation at a Kings Education Group (KEG) college in the UK.

The award should include biology or chemistry plus a minimum of one further science (biology, chemistry, maths, physics) along with the compulsory subjects of data handling/statistics and communication/study skills.

Any other subject is acceptable as the third option, with the exception of further maths if offered alongside maths.

The grade requirement will be Distinction (i.e. overall 75% and no individual subject below 60%)
- subject marks in the three optional subjects must all be 70% or higher with either chemistry or biology at 75% or higher. This should include a minimum of 65% for each individual assessment component within the three optional subjects (e.g. T1 exam, T2 assignment and T3 exam). 

The General Secondary Education Certificate on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education.

The Secondary Education Certificate is not a high enough level qualification to apply for Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/Certificate of Education). Five subjects at grade 1-2 in lieu of GCSEs, except English Language. Sciences and maths should be achieved at grade 3 / B.
AND
Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM/Advanced Certificate of Education) is acceptable in lieu of GCE A Levels. A grades are required including Chemistry plus biology, maths or physics. General Studies is not accepted.

Applicants possessing a degree:

  • The degree must be in a science or medically related subject
  • Applicants must have an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3
  • A good high school transcript with a GPA Average of 3 is still required with 3s/Bs in maths and all sciences

English Language requirements must be met.

Candidates are advised to write to the Admissions Office giving full details of all exams taken and to be taken. 

NCEA: We would be looking for excellence in five subjects at Level 3 and an absolute minimum of merit in level 2 English, maths and any science not studied to level 3.
Level 3 subjects to include chemistry plus two from biology, physics & maths.

The Senior School Certificate Examination (SSC) and West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) are not sufficient to enter Medicine at Keele directly, but may be supplemented with GCE A levels or equivalent.

The WASSC is acceptable at grades 1-3 in lieu of GCSE on a subject for subject basis.

We require a minimum of five GCSE subjects at grade A. Mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics must be passed at a minimum of grade B.

English Language requirements must be met.

Vitnemål Grunnskolen is acceptable in lieu of GCSE (except English Language). We require a minimum of five subjects at grade 6. Mathematics, biology, chemistry and Physics must be passed at a minimum of grade 4.
AND
Vitnemål Videregaende Opplaering. Must be endorsed ‘generell Studiekompetanse’. Overall average of 5 with marks of 6 in Chemistry plus two other subjects including another science.

English Language requirements must be met.

Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification or a 2 year science-related degree with at least 70%.

HSSC should be achieved at 70% or higher with 70% in maths and sciences. 

English Language requirements must be met.

Qatar Senior School Certificate / General Secondary Education Certificate: This qualification alone is not enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education.

English Language requirements must be met.

The General Secondary Education Certificate qualification on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Singapore/Cambridge GCE 'A' and 'O' Levels

AAA, including biology or chemistry plus another science subject and a third rigorous subject.
AND
At least 5 Singapore/Cambridge GCE 'O' levels at grade A, with maths and English language at grade B or above.  Any science not taken at 'A' Level must be passed at 'O' level grade B or above.

We would look for 3 subjects with honours to include maths, sciences and a fourth subject. CAP should be 4.25+.

Graduates

Students with a Bachelor’s degree from a Singapore University are expected to have achieved a PGA of at least 4.0.

In addition, graduates must have achieved:

  • A level (A2) grades of BBB, including chemistry or biology plus one further subject from: biology, chemistry, economics, maths/further maths/statistics, physics, psychology
  • GCSE / O level English language, maths and all sciences/double-award science at grade 6 (B) or better

NOTE: our degree is not currently recognised in Singapore

A minimum of four NSC/IEB designated subjects at Grade 7, including Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and maths as well as a minimum of a Grade 6 in English.

5 GCE Ordinary Levels at A / Distinction. Mathematics and sciences must be passed at a minimum of grade B/ Credit.

  • another designated science subject (biology, chemistry, physics or maths/further maths) and
  • a third rigorous academic subject.

GCSE: Certificate of Secondary Education - we require an overall Grade of 1 with at least five grade 1s. Maths and sciences must be passed at 2 or above.

A Levels: Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) Diploma in six CAPE units, including two double unit courses, with 1s in sciences and 2s in other subjects.

The Tawjihiyya (Certificate of General Secondary Education) Qualification on its own is not high enough for entry to Medicine at Keele, but may be considered if supplemented with A levels or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants would however be expected to have excellent marks in maths and sciences in their certificate of secondary education.

High School Qualifications

HSGD: Five grade As in their High School Graduation Diploma (HSGD), with a minimum of a B in Maths, English Language and Sciences (80%) or a good high school transcript with a GPA Average of 3.
AND
SAT I (Sept 2016 onwards) with 620+ achieved in each test (Math and Evidence based reading and Writing) OR ACT 26 in all elements. We will also accept SAT I (2005-2015) with 600+ achieved in each test (Math, Reading and Writing) 
AND
Three SAT IIs with at least 700 in each exam or three Advanced Placement Tests with grades of 5,5,5 or above. Chemistry or biology must be offered and one other science (biology, physics or maths).
A combination of SATIIs and APs are acceptable as long as two sciences are included (no overlapping subjects).

Degree

The degree must be in a science or medically related subject

Applicants must have an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3

A good high school transcript with a GPA Average of 3 is still required with Bs (80%+) in Maths, English and all sciences.
AND
Three SAT IIs with at least 650 in each exam or three Advanced Placement Tests with grades of 444 or above. Chemistry or biology must be offered and one other science (biology, physics or maths). A combination of SATIIs and APs are acceptable as long as two sciences are included (no overlapping subjects).
