Fitness classes

We deliver a fun and varied timetable of fitness and exercise classes at the Sports Centre each week. Our classes offer a range of choice, including Abs Blast, Spinning, Zumba, Stretch and Relax and more! All classes are free to customers holding full year, academic year, 3 month and 1 month memberships.


COVID-19 update

The Sports Centre is now open in line with government guidance for gym use, fitness classes & facility bookings. As always, our priority is the safety and well-being of our customers & staff, so we will be gradually returning to normal and following university guidance on remaining restrictions in place. The university's level of operation will be Level 2 as of 1 September 2021, to find out more about this, please click here.

Memberships are now live, you can purchase yours by heading to our Sports Centre reception on campus or calling our Sports Centre reception on 01782 733368. Our most popular membership is the Academic Gym membership, which is just a one off payment of £158 from 1 September 2021 - 31 August 2022 (working out at less than £14 a month) and also includes the UNIversal BUCS membership.

Fitness classes are now back Monday - Friday, you can find our fitness class timetable here. All our drop-in sessions are also available, including; Tennis, Outdoor Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Table Tennis & Badminton.

Join our online live classes every Tuesday & Friday through our virtual gym on Microsoft teams. We are currently running PIYO & HIIT with our instructor Vicky. Please join the sessions by joining the 'Virtual Gym' Microsoft Team with the code '28whr55' - and go to the 'Group Excercise' channel on the day. If you're not sure where to enter this join code, go to Teams, and click 'Join or create team' in the top right corner, and click 'Join a team with a code'.

How to book

Classes can be booked online here. Alternatively you can book by dropping in to the Sports Centre reception, or calling us on 01782 733368. We will require payment when you make the booking.

  • All classes require booking and payment in advance
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the class starts (all customers must sign in at the Sports Centre reception)
  • We recommend you bring a drink and towel to all classes and please inform the class instructor of any relevant medical conditions before the class starts
  • If you are unable to attend a class you have booked, please cancel your place up to 24 hours in advance. Any bookings cancelled within 24 hours or not attended will incur a charge for the class (including members on all inclusive memberships)
